NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
I was raised in Bountiful and I LOVE the great state of Utah! I grew up water skiing at Pine View and Willard Bay, snow skiing (all over UT), and hiking up Mueller Park Canyon. My parents Sheldon and Susan Green raised 6 children that attended Adelaide Elementary, South Davis Jr. High, and Woods Cross High School.
My life experiences have prepared me to understand the needs and perspectives of a wide range of citizens. I have extensive experience in business and real estate development, thus I understand growth, investment, and taxation.
As a single mother of 3, I obtained a Masters degree in counseling and a Ph.D in Human Development/Family Studies thus I understand living on a very tight budget. I have worked with non-profit organizations and volunteer regularly in our community.
As a senator for District 23, I would promote your values of community, fiscal responsibility, education, clean air, safety, and liberty.
Recently, I was a key organizer for the historic Utah 2019 Tax Referendum. My involvement in this grassroots citizen effort started as a parent teaching moment. I had been following the tax discussion throughout 2019 because I was concerned about the introduction of taxes on services. I was surprised when the special legislative session passed the tax reform bill right before Christmas.
I decided to take my daughter to Capitol Hill to watch a press conference regarding the referendum and add our signatures to a packet. We ended up leaving there with 2 packets of 49 signatures to gather.
Within a week I was the So. Davis Coordinator. When the opportunity arose to work with Harmons and Associated Food Stores, I was able to contribute my skill set to help organize signature gathering throughout the entire state. Through the combined efforts of volunteers, this non-partisan group was so successful that the legislature repealed the tax reform law the first week of the 2020 legislative session.
We gave the people of Utah a voice when they had not been heard. I will continue to be a voice for the people!
